Invitation from the President

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to attend the IGNSS2009 symposium and exhibition, being held from 1 -3 December 2009 at Holiday Inn Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, Australia. I am also pleased to be able to announce that a very influential Working Group of the United Nations mandated International Committee on GNSS (ICG) will be meeting attached to IGNSS2009.

Working Group A of the ICG is on Compatibility and Interoperability, which means that, for the first time in the history of our IGNSS conferences, we will have keynote presentations from all of the key GNSS System Providers. This will include the two established systems of GPS from the USA and Glonass from Russia along with the 2 new global systems being deployed in coming years by Europe (Galileo) and China (Compass). We will also have presentations on the 2 major regional systems from Japan and India, which will also offer coverage over Australia.

IGNSS 2009 will also feature keynote presentations from international experts in key applications areas and from key figures in Australian Space activities. The excellent keynote programme will be rounded out by in-depth oral presentations, panel discussions, interactive poster sessions and an informative trade exhibition.

As well as the strong technical programme, IGNSS2009 will also feature enjoyable social functions and plenty of opportunities to network with local and international colleagues and all in the beautiful surrounds of the Gold Coast.

On behalf of the International Global Navigation Satellite Systems (IGNSS) Society and the organising committee, I look forward to welcoming you to IGNSS 2009.
