Mr Matt Higgins (President)

Matt Higgins is Principal Survey Advisor with the Department of Natural Resources and Water in the Queensland Government in Australia.

He holds Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Surveying.

From 2007 to 2010, Matt is a Vice President of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG).

He is also the FIG representative on the UN mandated International Committee on GNSS where he Co-Chairs Working Group D on "Interaction with national and regional authorities and relevant international organizations".

Matt is a past member of the Editorial Advisory Board of GPS World Magazine.

Matt also represents Queensland Government on the Geodesy Technical Sub-Committee of the Inter-governmental Committee on Surveying and Mapping for Australia and New Zealand.

He is a Registered Cadastral Surveyor and Fellow of both the Institution of Surveyors and the Spatial Sciences Institute in Australia.

At the 2005 Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards, Matt received the award for "Professional Eminence and Excellence in the Spatial Sciences". The award is the SSI's highest form of recognition for professional eminence.


 

Professor Chris Rizos

Chris Rizos is a graduate of The University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia; obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy in Satellite Geodesy in 1980.

Chris is currently the Head of the School of Surveying & Spatial Information Systems at UNSW.

Chris has been researching the technology and applications of GPS since 1985, and is currently the Vice President of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG), a member of the Governing Board of the International GNSS Service, and a member of the IAG's Global Geodetic Observing System Steering Committee.

He is also science program manager for Positioning projects within the Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information. Chris is a Fellow of the IAG and of the Australian Institute of Navigation.

 

Mr Rob Lorimer

Rob Lorimer is the Managing Director of Position One Consulting and editor of GPS World's Professional OEM newsletter

Position One provide market research and business development services to the position, navigation and timing sector

Rob's career history includes CEO of Beeline Technology (now part of Hemisphere GPS) and Managing Director of Trimble Asia Pacific

He is a contributing editor to GPS World, member of the Australian Governments Space Industry Innovation Council and a regional judge for the European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC)

 

 

 

Associate Professor Andrew Dempster

Andrew Dempster is Director of Research in the School of Surveying and Spatial Information Systems at the University of New South Wales.
 
He has worked in satellite navigation for over 20 years, since leading the team developing Australia's first GPS receiver at Auspace Limited in Canberra.
 
He has been teaching satellite navigation to postgraduates and companies since 1996, and has four patents on innovative GPS receiver designs.
 
His current research interests are in the areas of receiver design and signal processing, interference, multipath, weak-signal processing, and new location technologies.
 
He has a BE and MEngSc from UNSW and a PhD from Cambridge
